FEATURED FILM: ODE IN BLOOD

Directed by award-winning South African filmmaker Reabetswe “Rea” Rangaka, Ode in Blood follows the collision of two men from vastly different worlds, bound together by fate and searching for redemption. This cross-cultural short film has received international recognition, including an Honorable Mention at the Cleveland International Film Festival.

SHORT FILM: THE PROPHETESS

The Prophetess is based on a beloved 1982 South African short story, by Njabulo Ndebele and was originally published in Staffrider. It tells the story of a young boy sent by his ill mother to fetch holy water from a mysterious woman known as the prophetess. As he steps inside her home, we enter a world shaped by faith, trust, and local beliefs in the town of Charterston.

Although the original book is now out of print, it remains accessible through public libraries in South Africa—a treasured piece of local literary history brought to life on screen.
